Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training DS is a game for the handheld Nintendo DS and it was created so that it can be played every day. This game is easy to use and is controlled by touch and voice commands. Some puzzles need answers that will have to be written with the special pen or which have to be spoken out loud through the built-in microphone.
Each player of Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training game is required to enter information before starting a session. First, the day’s date must be entered and then the player will have to choose if they are right or left handed. This is done by touching either the left or right Nintendo DS screen, whichever corresponds to the answer. Finally, a player must put in their name and date of birth and then they can start brain training. Later on, the player’s brain age will be recorded over time and you will be able to see your improvements.

Each of the training games is measured on score and speed in which the player completed the questions. There are different speeds to measure your abilities, such as bicycle, jet or rocket speed. If your score is high, you have a chance of making the Top Three list. These are your best scores and times for a particular puzzle and so you can check and compare your progress. Up to four players can save files on a single DS game card. Each player can also interact with one another in various ways.

The Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training game has five different modes of play to choose from. There is the Brain Age Check, training session, quick play, download and Sudoku. In the Brain Age Check option is the heart of the game and it requires that the player complete three puzzles and when finished Professor Kawashima will then give an assessment of the player’s brain. The higher a player’s brain age is the worse the performance and assessment. The goal is to achieve a brain age of 20 which is considered ideal, according to Dr. Kawashima who says that the brain no longer develops after 20. The check can be done once a day.   The training session prepares you for the puzzles and you can gain experience solving them. The quick play is a fast round and Sudoku is the fun numbers game. Sudoku is great for training your brain because it requires you to think in numbers and can be tricky if you aren’t careful.
