MySims Racing for Wii Platform
If you are a fan of “kart” racing, then MySims Racing for the Wii platform will leave you wanting for nothing! With fun options that allow for customized game play, the square citizens of MySims are back and ready for more action. We knew it was coming – the mischievous people of the MySims world (taking their cue from Italian brothers Mario and Luigi) couldn’t resist picking up on the go-kart phenomenon. MySims Racing takes it a step farther, however, with awesome new tricks and a fresh appeal for those who love kart racing but long for something different.
MySims Racing Basics
The storyline behind MySims Racing is a bit different than the expected – characters are on a mission to bring the fun of racing back to town after a legendary racing star drops off the face of the earth after an altercation with his nemesis, the wicked Morcubus. The story board is set up much like it is for Mario Karts with a large map pointing the player towards different events like standard racing, timed trials, challenges, and runs. Most of the general racing activities are fairly easy to complete, with the events giving the player a little bit more bang for their buck. Participating in events can help players to earn gold medals which can be exchanged to get a better vehicle or improvements to their own vehicle. Challenges also give the player an opportunity to practice on the track that they will be using in the actual game, which allows them to find the fastest path and short cuts for the races.
MySims Racing Options
A quick race mode and multiplayer mode give a bit of variety to kart racing with MySims, and players can verse one another (up to four players can play at once) or the computer. Characters are fully customizable (and so are karts). Players can choose from three vehicles that can be customized with different kits – including a miniature car, a truck and a midsize kart. Kits for customizing the look of the player’s vehicles include hood ornaments, rims, spoilers, and much, much more. The racing in MySims is nothing new but is much like any other kart racing game. Weapon pickups are available throughout the story on the track that allows you to knock out your opponent. Unique weapons on MySims Racing include: a beehive that can be used to slow down fellow racers, a tornado that flips the screen and racers upside down, and an acorn that can be used as a makeshift road block. Players that drive well will win extra power for their karts.
Colorful and eye-catching graphics on the storyboard and different levels make racing karts the “Sims” way entertaining to say the least. Hidden “boost” sections along the roadway and a challenging course make for seat of your pants driving. Using the available Nunchuk stick that’s available for the Wii, players can expect improved steering and remove control of gas and brakes.
All in all, MySims Racing is a Wii-worthy game that is worth the investment and the effort.
